Ayurveda - Sri Lanka Traditional Medicine (30 Minutes)
The traditional system of medicine in Sri Lanka, is one of the oldest healing methods practiced in the island. “Hela Wedakama” or “Local Treatment” as it was called since pre-historic times uses a vast knowledge of nature-based medicine, and heals to the cause of the disease. It focuses on directing the body towards a balance between a person’s physical and mental wellbeing.
The history of Hela Wedakama in Sri Lanka, dates back to 5000 years. The island had a well-developed civilization during this time in comparison to other countries in the world having established systems of Agriculture, architecture, irrigation, and the medical system.
