Sagara a school teacher is found involving himself in politics and sent on transfer to a romote villege. Here he uplifts the standard of the school by sheer and hard work. He gradually falls in love with a teacher Sandalatha. Their families oppose their marriage. They are blessed with a son. Still active in politics and fighting for a cause he is set up by thugs and killed. Sandalatha is not capable of telling her little child that his father is dead.

Meanwhile Sagara’s twin brother Pradeep comes to the village to find out about his brother’s death.

Seeing Pradeep for the first time the child sees Pradeep as his father. Everyone is incapable of telling the child the truth. This makes Pradeep stay back in the village much to the annoyance of his girlfriend Achala who is to marry Pradeep soon. Ultimately the situation becomes highly tensed. At the final stage Sandalatha is forced to take the child to the cemetery and show his father’s grave. The child does not believe anything. As far as he knew, Pradeep is his father.
The final scene shows Pradeep’s wedding ceremony been disturbed by the child and Pradeep finally answering the child’s question saying he is really his father.
